Mission
The Bureau of Injury and Disability Prevention provides leadership, technical assistance, expertise, and resources in preventing and controlling injuries and disabilities. The mission of the Bureau is to reduce the incidence, severity, and adverse outcomes of injury and disability through research, surveillance, and the development and implementation of programs.
Program Description
The Bureau of Injury and Disability Prevention develops and implements prevention programs to reduce the human and economic costs of injury and disability. The bureau also keeps track of injuries and disabilities caused by intentional and unintentional acts of violence.
Division Goals
The Division of Disability Prevention Prevention identifies, monitors, and reports on the incidence, prevalence, and severity of disabilities and associated conditions. It also develops and implements prevention programs to reduce the effects of disabilities.
The Division of Injury and Violence Prevention identifies, monitors, and reports on the incidence, prevalence, and severity of violence in the District of Columbia. It also develops and implements prevention programs to reduce the effects of violence.
The Division of Sexual Assault Prevention identifies, monitors, and reports on the incidence, prevalence, and severity of rape and attempted rape in the District of Columbia. It also develops and implements prevention programs to reduce sexual assaults. |
